Anniversary japanese dinner date + outfit
My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 2nd anniversary almost a week ago (i know, has it been that long?!? hehe!) but really haven't had time to celebrate it with a cutesy tootsey little dinner date. So last night, we decided that we were going to officially call it the 'anniv dinner' just so we can say that we haven't turned into a boring snoring couple. hahaha!
Anyway, off we went to our favorite okonomiyaki restaurant Kagura. It's a hidden place somewhere in the makati jungle, i think in Pasay road?!? Well, it's quite obvious that I'm not the one who drives! hahaha! Here's a pic of the entrance:
We asked the waiter for one okonomiyaki special (it has thinly sliced pork, squid, egg, and cheese and is our fave in the menu), one order of miso soup, iced tea and beer. The okonomiyaki takes 10-15 minutes to make and so my miso soup became like an appetizer.
see that oba-san? she's making our okonomiyaki!
If you are wondering, okonomiyaki is a kind of japanese-style pancake or pizza. After researching a little bit with google, I have learned that our favorite okonomiyaki place serves it Hiroshima-style i.e. with chopped cabbage on top. Here is a picture of the yummy okonomiyaki when it finally arrived:
do not let the pic fool you, it is quite big!
It looks so pretty, right? And it tastes just as good as it looks too! hehe! (I know some people do not like jap food so I can imagine some of you making a kind of "bleh" look over there!) But really, it is worth a try! To eat okonomiyaki, you cut it into bite-sized pieces with your chopsticks (yes, pizza with chopsticks!) and i personally love it with mayo and some chili oil. *yum yum yum*
After okonomiyaki, bf was still craving for more beer and some sashimi and so we traipsed like a jolly young couple over to our fave sashimi place Kikufuji (it's right next door to the okonomiyaki place, hehe!). This place was recommended by my sexy friend mic (hi mic!) and we've taken quite a liking to it. The back area of the resto is a smoking area with low japanese tables (chabudai) and small paper walls for the diner's privacy.
Here is a pic of the back area:
As we were full from the okonomiyaki, we only asked for one order of kanpachi sashimi (fattest part of yellowtail) and one order of shake sashimi (salmon). I drank cold rice tea with sugar syrup while bf had a mug of beer. Here is a picture:
So that ends my quaint japanese date. hehe! But before I end this post, you might be wondering what I wore to this cutesy tootsey little date...
Well, something cutesy tootsey of course!
cream floral shirt dress from mongkok night market, oversized yellow belt from wetseal, muted pink kokopelli flats from mirabelle in hk, camel vachetta leather hobo from coach
